New Farm Technology Aids Local Dairy Farm
Lancaster County's first robotic milking system is being called the wave of the future in farming.
Tuesday, state and local officials toured the Garber Farm in Lancaster.
The EDC Finance Corporation has allowed farmers to access over $15 million to purchase new technology in the last several years, and one of its latest projects is the Garber Dairy Farm. The robotic milking system is part of a $3 million upgrade to the family farm which includes new buildings and other technology.
The program has allowed the Garber Family Farm to increase its herd size
from 155 to 275 cows. The farm has been in the Garber Family for seven
generations.
